Is faith without works really dead? The book of James has somewhat of a mixed reputation. After all, Martin Luther famously referred to James as an “epistle of straw,” and criticized it for not focusing on the message of the gospel. But what many people do not know is that Luther also frequently quoted from James, drawing from James’s wisdom to a church facing great pressure to concede and compromise. He saw James is a valuable addition to Scripture that focused on the necessity of a living faith. So, join us for Adult Bible Class as we walk through the five chapters of James, drawing from the 3×3 Method of reading the Bible and understanding it. We will carefully study what God’s word has to say about trails and temptations, faith and works, taming the tongue, wisdom, wealth, prayer, and the Christian life together. Come and find Christ, even amongst the straw.
