It’s Go Time!

For over a year, there have been conversations about the 2025 LCMS Youth Gathering. Now we’re just four days away from stepping onto our flight to travel to the city of jazz music and Cajun food – New Orleans.

There are 24 youth and six adults who will be traveling together for this amazing experience and it would not be possible without the financial and prayerful support of Bethlehem Lutheran Church! The group appreciates the support more than you’ll ever know.

So, what are we going to be doing while we’re down south? Great question.

On Saturday (19th), we’ll have the opportunity to get together with other South Wisconsin District churches at Mulate’s restaurant for a district event lunch. After that, we’ll take time to explore the World War II museum and also take the streetcars to explore the rest of the city. Saturday night will be the first “mass event” at Caesar’s Superdome, which is when the Gathering truly kicks off.

Sunday (20th) begins our normal routine of daily large group Bible Study, attending sessions put on by nearly 100 speakers (choosing which one to go to is hard!), and wandering around the interactive floor which has games, activities, exhibitors and more. This routine happens daily from Sunday through Tuesday, with a mass event happening each night.

We will hear from several speakers at the mass events, including Bethany Hamilton (you know her from the movie “Soul Surfer”). We’ll also have the chance to watch FLAME and Rend Collective in concert after two of the mass events (that’s right…we’ll be staying up WAY past our bedtime).

On Wednesday (23rd), the Gathering will conclude with worship and communing together (yes…20,000 people taking communion all at once). And just before midnight, we’ll be back in the great state of Wisconsin.

Oh, and we’ll be sweating…a lot.

Needless to say, we’re going to be BUSY and TIRED. But every part of the Gathering is going to be so worth it. We can’t wait to share some stories with you here on the blog and even more when we return home.

Check back daily beginning Friday the 18th to follow our adventures!
